Abstract
- A study conducted by researchers at the Shenzhen Maternity and Child Healthcare Hospital in China explored the prevalence and factors associated with antenatal depressive symptoms in pregnant women. The study used data from a mobile app-based screening program and included 110,584 pregnant women. The overall prevalence of depressive symptoms was found to be 18.0%, with the highest prevalence in the first trimester. Factors associated with an increased risk of depressive symptoms included anxiety symptoms in early pregnancy, lower marital satisfaction, living with parents-in-law, experience of negative life events, and drinking before and during pregnancy. The study highlights the importance of targeted interventions and the integration of mental health care into routine antenatal services to address antenatal depression and improve maternal and infant health outcomes.
