Abstract

Adidas CEO Bjorn Gulden has apologized for the company's advertising campaign featuring Palestinian-American model Bella Hadid. The campaign for the SL 72 sneaker faced criticism for featuring Hadid, who has been critical of Israel, in ads for a shoe originally released for the 1972 Munich Olympics, during which 11 Israeli team members were killed in a Palestinian terrorist attack. The Israeli government accused Hadid of antisemitism, but Adidas apologized for the "unintentional mistake" and stated that there was no intention to connect the tragedy with the ads. Hadid also apologized, expressing support for Palestinians and advocating against antisemitism. The CEO also declined to comment on a separate incident involving offensive behavior by members of Argentina's national football team, which wears Adidas uniforms. FIFA is currently investigating the matter. [Extracted from the article]
