Abstract

Australian airline Rex has decided to permanently abandon its capital city services in order to focus on being a small regional carrier. The airline, which had previously challenged Qantas Airways, will now aim to emerge from administration as a viable business by running a structured sales process. Rex's move into major intercity services in 2021 was unsuccessful due to a fare war with Qantas and Virgin Australia, as well as supply-chain issues and pilot shortages. Administrators are now seeking fresh capital or a buyer for the airline. [Extracted from the article]
