Abstract
- The Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) has requested a power tariff increase of Rs2.63 per unit due to the Fuel Charges Adjustment (FCA) for electricity consumed in June 2024. The proposed increase is currently under review by the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA), with a public hearing scheduled for July 31, 2024. In June 2024, a total of 13,459 GWh of electricity was generated, with hydropower accounting for 35.13% of the total production. Other sources of electricity included coal-fired power plants, gas-based power plants, Re-gasified Liquefied Natural Gas (RLNG) plants, bagasse, wind energy, solar energy, nuclear power, and electricity imported from Iran. The total cost for the electricity supplied to distribution companies in June 2024 was Rs127,712 million. [Extracted from the article]
