Abstract
- Spot sprayers that can distinguish between different types of plants, such as weeds and crops, have recently been introduced into the field. These sprayers are all equipped with a system capable of recognising and spraying individual plants. These components are not included in existing test procedures for testing sprayers in use. In order to investigate the applicability of existing test procedures, the Ecorobotix spot sprayer was tested according to EN ISO 16122. With a few exceptions due to additional functionalities, this standard is well suited for carrying out such a test on spot sprayers in use. The entire electronic detection system, consisting of camera, computer and solenoid valve system, has to be tested with new test procedures. The positive experience with the use of protocols for band sprayers leads to the conclusion that they can also be applied to the testing of spot sprayers, but must be extended to test the new elements of these sprayers.
