Abstract

Goldman Sachs is planning to sell a bond that will allow it to transfer risk from a $2 billion portfolio of loans. The bond is tied to a pool of loans to private market funds, and if the loans default, investors in the bonds will lose principal. The notes are expected to be priced at less than 500 basis points above a benchmark. This type of transaction, known as a synthetic risk transfer, has become increasingly popular in recent years. Other banks, such as JPMorgan Chase and Wells Fargo, have also explored similar deals. [Extracted from the article]
