Abstract

New genetic testing techniques are challenging the claims made by cryptozoologists about mythical beasts. These techniques have allowed for the testing of samples claimed to be evidence of cryptids' existence, such as hairs, droppings, and tissues. While some tests have confirmed that these creatures are imaginary, others have yielded surprising results. For example, a study claimed to have found Bigfoot DNA, but further analysis revealed that the samples contained DNA from various animals, including bears and humans. Additionally, DNA analysis of Yeti samples suggested that the myth may be based on an unknown population of bears. The use of environmental DNA analysis is also promising for future research on mythical creatures. However, skeptics argue that many cryptids are simply products of tradition and psychology, passed down through generations. The article also highlights unexplored regions, such as the Mariana Trench and Venezuela, where new animal discoveries are likely to occur. [Extracted from the article]
