Abstract

This paper aims to analyze some of the issues affecting the study of artificial intelligence applied to the work of jurists, seeking to highlight how the results obtained today, although less satisfactory than those achieved in other disciplines, depend mainly on the implementation of learning algorithms. At the same time, the essay tries to “take stock” of the latest landfalls of artificial intelligence applied to law, noting how the main goal today has become predictability rather than understanding of legal experience. The contribution offers some opening paragraphs, in which the author clarifies the meaning of the terminology adopted; the concluding ones are about the relationship between legal methodology and the technology produced by artificial intelligence.
