Abstract

A preliminary study conducted in Chennai, India, examined the relationship between green cover and the presence of garden lizards in city parks. The study found that the garden lizard, Calotes versicolor, was commonly sighted in the parks surveyed, with a total of 237 sightings. The number of lizard sightings varied among parks of different sizes, with larger parks having more sightings. However, there were some minor discrepancies in the survey data, such as longer survey durations in smaller parks and shorter durations in larger parks. Overall, the study suggests that green cover may play a role in the persistence of garden lizards in urban areas. [Extracted from the article]
