Abstract

Paris plans to proceed with its 2024 Olympic Games opening ceremony despite a "massive attack" on the country's super-fast rail network. The attack disrupted trains and caused delays and cancellations, affecting around 800,000 passengers. The acts of sabotage were carried out in a coordinated and premeditated fashion, indicating a certain knowledge of the rail network. The perpetrators have not been identified, and investigations are ongoing. Despite the disruption, Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo confirmed that transport within the city has not been affected.
