Abstract

This article reports that expedited trucking is not just cheaper, but is often faster and more reliable than shipping by air. It has become an accepted wisdom to say that shippers and forwarders are increasingly turning to expedited trucking services to move cargo within the U.S. because the costs are so much lower than shipping by air. It is opined that truckers are not just cheaper but in many cases provide better service and deliver the cargo faster. However, distance is still a limiting factor for truckers. Regional overnight and time-definite two-to-three day services are becomingly increasingly precise in the U.S. market, but it's still problematic to move an express shipment via ground that has to travel long distances. INSET: Moving Air Forward.
