Abstract
- A recent study conducted by researchers from the University of Florida examined the effects of sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitors on the risk of dementia in individuals with type 2 diabetes. The study found that SGLT2 inhibitors were associated with a reduced risk of all-cause dementia compared to sulfonylureas. However, the association varied among different subgroups, with Hispanic ethnicity and chronic kidney disease identified as important variables. This population-based cohort study provides valuable insights into the potential benefits of SGLT2 inhibitors in reducing dementia risk for specific groups of individuals with type 2 diabetes.
