Abstract

A recent study conducted by researchers at the University of Southern Denmark examined the discomfort experienced during colonoscopy and colon capsule endoscopy (CCE) and investigated the differences between expected and experienced discomfort based on socioeconomic status. The study found that discomfort levels varied significantly based on educational levels but not income levels. The main contributor to discomfort in both procedures was the bowel preparation. The study concluded that discomfort does not seem to be a major barrier causing inequalities in screening uptake, and this is the first study to investigate discomfort discrepancy in both CCE and colonoscopy while stratifying by socioeconomic status.
