Abstract

Researchers from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) have conducted a study on the use of Bowman layer transplantation with stromal inclusion using femtosecond laser for patients with advanced keratoconus. The study included 7 patients who underwent the procedure and were followed up for 3 years. The results showed corneal flattening, increased corneal pachymetry, improved visual acuity, and increased tolerance to contact lenses. The researchers concluded that this transplantation technique may be a viable option for patients with advanced and progressive keratoconus to delay or avoid the need for other surgical procedures.
