Abstract

A recent study conducted by researchers at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (Virginia Tech) aimed to assess the usefulness of the 10 Warning Signs of Primary Immunodeficiency in electronic health record (EHR) data. The study analyzed EHR data from 152 million US patients and found that the presence of two or more warning signs significantly differentiated patients with inborn errors of immunity (IEI) from controls. The study also estimated the prevalence of IEI in the US to be 6 per 10,000 individuals. This research provides valuable insights into the identification and prevalence of IEI using EHR data.
