Abstract
- Researchers from Islamic Azad University in Tehran, Iran have developed a simple colorimetric method using gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) for the simultaneous determination of tamsulosin and dutasteride in pharmaceutical formulations. The aggregation of citrate-capped AuNPs resulted in a color change from red to gray, and the absorbance shifted from 524 to 674 nm. The method was validated and found to have good linearity and low limits of detection and quantitation. Neural network and fuzzy inference system models were used for simultaneous estimation, and the results were compared to high-performance liquid chromatography. The researchers concluded that this colorimetric method could be a suitable choice for determining drug contents in pharmaceutical and biological samples. [Extracted from the article]
