Abstract

Employees who have lost out on superannuation contributions due to their employer going into liquidation or bankruptcy now have the opportunity to claim unpaid super. This change, which took effect on July 1, is a positive step for workers who have been left without their entitlements. The Australian Taxation Office (ATO) will assist employees in reviewing and raising assessments with their employer for unpaid super, and if funds are available, the ATO will distribute the money to super funds. This change should lead to better financial outcomes for employees affected by company failures. [Extracted from the article]
