Abstract

Some of triazole derivatives are synthesized by cyclization reaction of thiocarbohydrazide synthesized by reaction of carbon disulphide and aqueous hydrazine; the basic nucleus 3-methyl-4-amino-1,2,4-triazole-5-thione (L) is prepared by reaction of thiocarbohydrazide compound with glacial acetic acid under reflux condition. The compound (L) is subjected to addition reaction with different aldehydes to synthesize Schiff bases 1,3[N,N-Bis(5-methyl-1,3,4- triazole-2-thione)] benzene (L<subscript>1</subscript>) and 1,4[N,N-Bis(5-methyl-1,3,4-triazole-2- thione)] benzene (L<subscript>2</subscript>). The compounds (L<subscript>1</subscript>) and (L<subscript>2</subscript>) are confirmed by means of their melting point, FTIR, UV-visible, and ¹H-NMR spectra. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
