Abstract

This article discusses the use of patient-centric outcome measures in assessing the impact of vitiligo on patients' quality of life (QoL). The study focuses on determining the thresholds for substantial clinical benefit (SCB) and substantial clinical worsening (SCW) using the Vitiligo Impact Scale (VIS)-22, a validated QoL tool for vitiligo. The researchers analyzed data from 309 patients with vitiligo and found that the SCB of VIS-22 change scores was 15 points, while the SCW was 10 points. These thresholds can be used to evaluate the effectiveness of interventions for individual patients in clinical and research settings. However, the study had limitations, including a small sample size and a lack of directed interventions addressing patients' psychosocial burden. [Extracted from the article]
