Abstract
- A recent study conducted by researchers at Sapporo Medical University School of Medicine in Japan has found that small cell lung carcinoma (SCLC) cells rely on a protein called KIF11 for survival. The researchers discovered that KIF11 mRNA expression levels were significantly higher in SCLC tissues compared to normal lung tissues. When KIF11 was targeted using RNA interference or a small-molecule inhibitor, the growth of SCLC cells was suppressed. The study suggests that inhibiting KIF11 could be a potential therapeutic strategy for treating SCLC. [Extracted from the article]
