Abstract

A recent study conducted at Kielce University of Technology in Poland aimed to characterize TiCN coatings for biomedical applications. The researchers found that the deposition of a TiCN coating on Ti6Al4V alloy increased its hardness by 75% and reduced friction and wear. Microscopic observations revealed that wear mechanisms were less pronounced with the TiCN coating compared to the alloy alone. The study concluded that TiCN coatings impart low-friction and anti-wear properties to titanium alloy surfaces.
