Abstract
- Researchers from Dalhousie University in Halifax, Canada have explored the emotional toll that the last three years have taken on academics involved in community-engaged and activist research. The demands of the neoliberal university system, combined with the global crises and the COVID-19 pandemic, have led to anxiety and burnout among academics. The researchers argue that emotions play a crucial role in academic research, teaching, and praxis, particularly in issues of social and spatial justice. They emphasize the importance of holding onto emotions in these areas, given the ongoing global crises. The research has been peer-reviewed and published in the journal Emotion Space and Society.
