Abstract
- A study conducted in Fujian, People's Republic of China compared the outcomes of two surgical approaches for the treatment of choledochal cysts in children. The study analyzed data from 49 children and found that the group that underwent a trans-umbilical single-site plus one robot-assisted surgery had less bleeding during the operation and required shorter postoperative drainage tube indwelling time, fasting time, and hospitalization time compared to the group that underwent a trans-umbilical single-site laparoscopic-assisted surgery. However, the robot-assisted surgery had a longer operation time and higher hospitalization expenses. The study suggests that with the expansion of robot-assisted surgical systems, robotic surgery may gradually replace laparoscopy due to its advantages. [Extracted from the article]
