Abstract

A study conducted by Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine in China found that a low-dose anti-thymocyte globulin (ATG) plus low-dose post-transplantation cyclophosphamide (PTCy) regimen was effective in preventing graft-versus-host disease (GVHD) in pediatric patients undergoing haploidentical peripheral blood stem cell transplantation (haplo-PBSCT). The study included 35 pediatric patients, and the cumulative incidences of grades II-III and III-IV acute GVHD were 34% and 11% respectively within 180 days post-transplantation. The 2-year probabilities of overall survival, relapse-free survival, and GVHD and relapse-free survival were 89%, 82%, and 59% respectively. The study concluded that the low-dose ATG/PTCy-based regimen is a robust strategy for GVHD prevention in haplo-PBSCT for pediatric patients. [Extracted from the article]
