Abstract
- A recent study conducted by researchers from the University of St Andrews explores the potential use of whole blood host transcriptomic markers (TM) as a diagnostic tool for latent tuberculosis infection (LTBI). The study found that the expression of 11 evaluated TM was significantly suppressed among individuals with LTBI compared to healthy controls. The researchers suggest that the suppression of gene expression may serve as a more sensitive diagnostic biomarker for LTBI than the current standard-of-care test. This research contributes to the ongoing efforts to reduce tuberculosis incidence worldwide. [Extracted from the article]
