Abstract
- André Kano, a watercolor artist, creates tranquil maritime scenes using subdued colors and exploring blank areas on the paper. He values painting outdoors but also appreciates the comfort of a well-equipped studio. Kano often chooses to depict scenes with boats, as he finds their unique design and abundance of details add movement and elegance to his work. He carefully selects colors to create harmonious combinations and avoids using vibrant, saturated colors in large areas of the paper. Kano explores the play between light and dark and leaves spaces unfilled to create a sense of breathing and balance in his compositions. He shares a step-by-step guide to his technique and has won several national and international awards for his watercolor paintings. [Extracted from the article]
