Abstract

The article emphasizes the significance of including life scientists in quantitative systems pharmacology (QSP) modeling teams. QSP models integrate data on physiology, pathophysiology, and pharmacology to enhance drug development. However, many QSP modelers lack a background in biological sciences, which can result in limitations in model quality and impact. Life scientists contribute essential expertise in model design, data curation, and result interpretation, ensuring the model's relevance and biological accuracy. Without life scientists, modelers may overlook crucial connections and construct models with unrealistic parameters. Including life scientists in modeling teams enhances model development and outcomes. The article suggests providing educational programs and workshops to train life scientists in modeling concepts and biology. Including life scientists in the core modeling team leads to more efficient model building and improved result interpretation. [Extracted from the article]
