Abstract

A recent study conducted by researchers from Deakin University in Australia explored the factors that enable active commuting (AC) among office workers. The study involved 51 volunteers from three office-based workplaces in Brisbane, Australia, who participated in focus groups. The findings revealed that financial cost and travel time considerations were significant factors in determining the mode of commuting. Other important factors included physical and mental health benefits, convenience, predictability, flexibility, and the quality of end-of-trip facilities. The study suggests that interventions to promote AC should emphasize the mental health benefits, cost savings, and improvements in travel time predictability. [Extracted from the article]
