Abstract
- A clinical trial has been launched to determine if performing a lateral soft tissue release during a Chevron osteotomy for bunions leads to better correction without added complications. The trial aims to answer questions about the effect of the release on hallux valgus angle correction and intermetatarsal angle degrees of correction. Participants will be randomized to receive either a typical Chevron osteotomy or a Chevron osteotomy with a lateral soft tissue release. Surveys and x-rays will be conducted pre and postoperatively to compare outcomes. The trial is currently recruiting 200 patients over the age of 18 with mild to moderate bunions.
