Abstract

A recent study conducted by researchers at Sichuan University in Chengdu, China, explored the impact of combined administration of ropivacaine and dexamethasone on postoperative analgesia in perianal surgery with pudendal nerve block under ultrasound guidance. The study was a double-blind randomized controlled trial and involved two groups of patients who underwent different treatments. The results showed that the group receiving dexamethasone in addition to ropivacaine had a lower incidence of moderate to severe pain during the first dressing change and better quality of recovery and sleep quality. The study suggests that combining dexamethasone with pudendal nerve block may be an effective approach to multimodal analgesia after perianal surgery. [Extracted from the article]
