Abstract

A recent study conducted in Teramo, Italy, focused on the validation of a real-time PCR assay for the detection of African Swine Fever Virus (ASFV) in fresh pork meat juice. The research aimed to find an alternative method for confirming ASFV infection, as testing blood, serum, and organ samples is not always convenient or feasible. The study found that the PCR assay was able to detect viral DNA in both meat juice and spleen samples, with spleens showing lower Ct values. The researchers concluded that meat juice could be a useful tool for investigating the spread of ASFV. [Extracted from the article]
