Abstract
- A recent study from Texas A&M University has investigated the efficacy of silver carbene complexes (SCCs) against various animal and human pathogen species, including Salmonella and E. coli. The SCCs demonstrated bacteriostatic and bactericidal effects against multidrug resistant strains of Salmonella and E. coli, as well as Clostridium perfringens. The study suggests that SCCs may be a novel class of broad-spectrum antimicrobial agents that could potentially reduce the burden of pathogenic bacteria in the gastrointestinal tract of poultry. Further research is needed to explore the potential applications of SCCs in combating foodborne diseases. [Extracted from the article]
