Abstract
- Purpose: This study aims to examine current literature, identify the intellectual framework of key authors, and highlight research trends at the intersection of green human resource management (GHRM) and the ISO 14001 subtopic. Methodology: With climate change, companies are under strong pressure to adopt sustainable practices (Albitar et al., 2023). In this context, GHRM proves to be a promising tool in this fight (Xie & Lau, 2023), mainly used in synergy with the ISO 14001 standard (Seroka-Stolka & Fijorek, 2022). Although there is a conceptual basis for both (Akdeniz, 2023), the graphical representation of bibliometric maps allows for a holistic understanding of this scientific field. Based on the PRISMA statement, this study combined quantitative and qualitative bibliometric content analysis techniques (Eck & Waltman, 2010). A literature review was conducted presenting the main effects promoted by GHRM. Data were collected from Web of Science (WOS) and Scopus. The search strategy focused on a set of homographs and synonyms of the keywords (GHRM and ISO 14001). For data analysis, the R software, the bibliometrix package, and VOSviewer were used. Results: From 2014 to 2023, GHRM resulted in the merged dataset (n=1,118), leading to 647 final articles. Twelve articles on GHRM and ISO 14001 were included. Five clusters of term co-occurrence related to GHRM, and three clusters related to the central and subtopic emerged. Charbel Jabbour was the most prolific author in both cases. China was the most popular in GHRM studies, while Brazil stood out in the subtopic. The literature review showed that leadership and performance variables are widely seen as antecedents and consequents, respectively. Originality: This study consolidates current knowledge and identifies future paths. Furthermore, it suggests practical applications for promoting sustainable development. Bibliometric mapping provides insights for academics, practitioners and policymakers. This work is groundbreaking in applying bibliometric analysis to the topic of GHRM and the subtopic ISO 14001.
