Abstract

The inorganic water-based non-expanding fireproof coating was taked as the research object, and the coating thickness as the main influencing factor, the thermal response tests of liquefied petroleum gas tanks were conducted in a pool fire environment. The wall temperature response, damage time, and failure mode of storage tanks after spray fireproof coatings were studied in pool fire environments. The results show that the inorganic water-based non-expansion fireproof coatings have a significant delayed effect on the explosion time of storage tanks under fire action. For civilian liquefied petroleum gas storage tanks, when the filling level is the same, the tank which coating thickness is 2 cm is 6.91 times that of bare tanks in a pool fire environment, the tank which coating thickness is 3 cm is 1.20 times that of the tank which coating thickness is 2 cm, and the tank which coating thickness is 4 cm is 1.05 times that of the tank which coating thickness is 3 cm. The delayed effect of increasing coating thickness on the damage time of storage tanks in a pool fire environment gradually decreases, so it is suggest that to the coating thickness of 3 cm is suitable for storage tank. The research results have certain significance for the safety protection application of storage tanks in a pool fire environment and the study of fireproof coating. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
