Abstract
- Energy Minister Awais Leghari acknowledged in the Senate that electricity prices are currently high but assured that the government is working on reforms to provide cheaper electricity to consumers within the next 18 months. He clarified that the increase in electricity rates was due to the regulator setting the average price for the entire year in June. Leghari stated that the impact of the price adjustment for protected consumers would be around 2% and that reforms are underway to decrease the price further. The Senate also adopted a resolution expressing grief over a bomb blast and called for measures to combat terrorism. [Extracted from the article]
