Whopping 103.7pc raise in power subsidy.

Abstract

The federal government has increased the subsidy for the power sector by 103.7 percent, from 584 billion rupees to 1.190 trillion rupees for the fiscal year 2024-25. Total subsidies have increased by 28 percent, reaching 1,363,412 billion rupees. The subsidy for Inter-Disco tariff differential has been increased by 54.36 percent, and the subsidy for tariff differential to agri tubewells in Balochistan remains the same. Additionally, the government has allocated funds for WAPDA/PEPCO receivables, AJ and K TDS, FATA subsidy arrears, and the Pakistan Energy Revolving Fund. For K-Electric, funds have been allocated for TDS and agriculture tubewells in Balochistan, as well as arrears of KE's TDS. [Extracted from the article]
