Abstract

Employees in the information technology and engineering service industries have a number of challenges when it comes to maintaining a healthy work-life balance (WLB), including high levels of stress, frequent overtime, a demanding work schedule, and the repetitive nature of their job. Work and personal life obligations that are at odds with one another are nothing new. Caring for one's parents and children has long been a part of human life. Hobbies and volunteering have always been important parts of their lives. The demographic profile of the population underwent a sea change in the modern business age, with more and more women joining the workforce, among other changes. An unprecedented need for dedicated workers has emerged in the aftermath of corporate layoffs, as the economy has been shaped by new forces including global competitiveness. In contrast, the majority of CEOs continue to hold the view that the company's financial line takes a hit if an employee's private interests succeed. They hand off work-life balance concerns to HR, where they are typically patchworked with initiatives like reduced work weeks, job sharing, flextime, and paternity and maternity leaves. However, since these programmes don't penetrate a company's culture and radically alter managers' attitudes, they usually only assist a small number of workers in achieving a meaningful and lasting work-life balance. Examining the impact on productivity, this study sheds light on the many factors that affect the work-life balance of IT and ITES workers. The IT and ITES workers in Chennai were asked to rate how much they agreed with a series of measures that affect the study's research variables. The statistical results of the Pearson correlati on analysis showed that the research variables used to analyse the work-life balance (WLB) of IT and ITES employees and its effect on employee performance—including organisational support, supervisor support, work-life balance, and employee performance—were significantly correlated with one another. Among these study factors, IT and ITES workers in Chennai showed a strong positive correlation between "Employee Performance" and "Work-Life Balance." [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
