Abstract

Hurricane Beryl is approaching Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula, prompting local authorities to evacuate residents in its path. The storm is currently east of Tulum, Mexico, with sustained winds of 110 miles per hour. It is expected to weaken slightly before making landfall, bringing strong winds, storm surges, and damaging waves. Hurricane warnings are in effect for the Mayan Riviera, including popular tourist destinations such as Cancun and Cozumel. The storm has already caused destruction in the Caribbean and is forecasted to make landfall again in Tamaulipas state. The threat to oil and gas production in the Gulf of Mexico is diminishing as the storm's path avoids major drilling areas and platforms. [Extracted from the article]
