Abstract

Wrist weights have become a popular trend on TikTok, with people using them during walks to build arm muscle and enhance their workout. While walking with wrist weights does increase the challenge and can strengthen the heart, the muscle-building effects are minimal due to the light load. To build stronger muscles, it is recommended to use heavier weights and follow a progressive overload plan. Before adding wrist weights to walks, individuals should consider any injuries or balance issues and start gradually with lighter weights. Additionally, relocating the weight to the trunk through backpack or weighted vest can increase cardio intensity. It is important to remember that wrist weights should not replace upper-body strength training but can be a complementary addition to a wellness routine. [Extracted from the article]
