Abstract

The article provides an overview of the Popular Front of India (PFI) and its response to Hindu nationalism in India. It highlights that the PFI's main focus is resistance to Hindu nationalism, rather than terrorism, despite being declared an "unlawful association" by the Indian government. The PFI aims to build a grassroots socio-political movement to defend Muslims and marginalized communities against the rise of Hindu nationalism. The article also discusses the challenges faced by Muslim political responses to Hindu nationalism, including the protests against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and the relationship between the PFI and the Social Democratic Party of India (SdPI). It concludes by emphasizing the need for countering majoritarianism through democratic institutions. The given text is a list of references and sources related to the PFI and Muslim responses to Hindu nationalism, which can be useful for library patrons conducting research on this topic.
