Abstract

A recent study conducted at the University Hospital Geneva in Switzerland explored the feasibility of using virtual non-contrast cerebral computed tomography (VNCCT) as a replacement for non-contrast CT (NCCT) in patients with suspected acute cerebral ischemia. The study included 148 patients and found that VNCCT achieved a similar diagnostic performance as NCCT in detecting acute ischemia. The sensitivity of VNCCT in detecting acute ischemia was higher than that of NCCT, while specificity was similar between the two techniques. These findings suggest that VNCCT could potentially replace NCCT in assessing patients with suspected acute cerebral ischemia. [Extracted from the article]
