Abstract

A recent study conducted at the University of Michigan examined the effects of pitching on youth baseball players. The researchers focused on the flexor-pronator mass, a group of muscles in the forearm, and its relationship to ulnar collateral ligament (UCL) injuries. The study found that while there was no increase in elbow joint gapping within the recommended pitch count limit, there was a decrease in glycogen stores and grip strength, indicating fatigue. The findings suggest the need for further research to establish more accurate pitch count limits and improve the safety of young athletes. [Extracted from the article]
