Abstract
- A recent study conducted by Guizhou Medical University in China investigated the effect of the pharmaceutical excipient PEG400 on the pharmacokinetics of baicalin, a compound found in traditional Chinese medicine. The study found that PEG400 influenced the concentration of baicalin in hepatocytes and increased its bioavailability. Additionally, PEG400 had an inhibitory effect on the efflux transporters involved in the metabolism of baicalin in the liver. These findings suggest that PEG400 can improve the effectiveness of baicalin by affecting its transporters. [Extracted from the article]
