Abstract

A new report from Universitas Negeri Malang presents fresh data on malaria. The study used molecular docking and dynamic simulation to predict potential bioactive compounds from the Zingiberaceae plant family as inhibitors of Plasmodium vivax Duffy Binding Protein (PvDBP), which is required for the merozoite invasion process into red blood cells. The researchers identified two bioactive compounds, 5,7-dihydroxyflavanone and pinostrobin, which have the potential to inhibit merozoite invasion. The study suggests that these compounds could be used to control parasite growth and development. [Extracted from the article]
