Abstract

A research study conducted at Pavlov First Saint Petersburg State Medical University in Russia explores the use of biocompatible and biodegradable polymer films for reconstructive surgery in the field of Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT). The study evaluates the in vivo biocompatibility and biodegradability of bilayer films made from hyaluronic acid and chitosan polymers. The results indicate that these films have negligible toxicity and can be recommended for ENT surgery, specifically for nasal septum and tympanic membrane reconstruction. The study provides valuable insights into potential materials for addressing clinical challenges in ENT surgery. [Extracted from the article]
