Abstract

Researchers at Imperial College London have conducted a study on biomedical informatics, specifically focusing on heart rate estimation. The study found that ambulatory heart rate monitors that acquire signals from the torso, wrists, or ears are less accurate during high levels of movement. However, the researchers discovered that reliable heart rate estimation can be achieved through data fusion from different sensors. This method, especially suitable for multimodal hearable devices, compensates for the limitations of single sources and provides more robust heart rate estimation during physical activity.
