Abstract

A recent report from Colorado State University describes a case of a rabbit with a foreign object penetrating its spinal cord. The rabbit presented with symptoms of hyporexia, lethargy, and reluctance to move. Radiographs and computed tomography confirmed the presence of a sewing needle in the spinal canal, which was successfully removed through surgery. The rabbit experienced neurological abnormalities but ultimately recovered with medical treatment. This is the first documented case of its kind in a pet rabbit, and the use of mannitol in this context is also novel. The research has been peer-reviewed and published in the Journal of Exotic Pet Medicine. [Extracted from the article]
