Abstract
- A recent study conducted by researchers at Keio University in Tokyo, Japan, has identified a rare genetic variant in three siblings with Extramammary Paget's Disease (EMPD). EMPD is a type of intraepithelial adenocarcinoma that primarily affects older individuals in the genital and axillary areas. The study found a heterozygous variant in the MET proto-oncogene in the affected siblings, suggesting its potential involvement in EMPD carcinogenesis. Further genomic analyses are needed to validate the pathogenic relevance of MET variants in the development of familial EMPD. [Extracted from the article]
