Abstract
- A study conducted at Victoria Hospital in London, Canada, reviewed the biomechanical design optimization of clavicle midshaft fracture plates (CMFPs). The study found that while CMFPs are commonly used in surgery, complications can occur and it is unclear if the configurations are always optimized using biomechanical criteria. The review examined 51 papers that analyzed plate and screw variables, but none of them simultaneously implemented four biomechanical factors for optimization. The research concluded that this review can assist engineers and surgeons in designing and assessing CMFPs. [Extracted from the article]
