Abstract
- A study conducted at the Jawaharlal Institute of Post Graduate Medical Education and Research in Pondicherry, India, explored the gene expression patterns of regulatory T cells (Tregs) in individuals with rheumatoid arthritis (RA), osteoarthritis (OA), and healthy controls (HC). The researchers found that Tregs in individuals with RA exhibited higher percentages of Th1 and Th17-like Tregs compared to those with OA and HC. Additionally, the study revealed altered gene regulation in RA Tregs, particularly in pathways related to TCR signaling, cytokine signaling, and chemokine signaling. The findings suggest a possible metabolic re-programming of Tregs towards an inflammatory phenotype in RA. [Extracted from the article]
